Nota de Donald

The Escuela de Circo Carampa is immersed in another edition of CRECE (nº 13), with the participation of 10 young artists from 6 schools (Carampa/Madrid, CRAC/Lomme, ESAC/Brussels, Flic/Torino, Turku Arts Academy/Turku, and the Escola Nacional de Circo/Río de Janeiro), born in 8 different countries (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Finland, Germany, Slovenia, Spain).

This year’s creation process was directed by Marcus von Wachtel, who counts in his heterogeneous curriculum with periods as teacher at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico, en Madrid, occasional visiting teacher in the ESAC, as collaborator and artistic director in the beginnings of the Carampa project, later with Franco Dragone productions, with Circolombia, and over the years as director of dozens of shows large and small in Spain.

He brought a series of proposals to the table- poems, by Jacques Prevert, images from the Czech photographer Jan Saudek, music from the film  MirrorMask, which were delicately laced together with the personality and technique of these 10 performers over the 11 days that they had to prepare a full length show together.

The result is What a Wonderful World: a parade of dark images, unexpected encounters, a desperate harmony among the artists in a surprising adventure in circus language.  The opening was viewed at two sold out shows in the beautiful outdoor stage below the walls of Ávila, in the festival Circ&Co, and the continuation will include adapting the show to a full circus ring, and the performance of four shows at the Teatro Circo Price de Madrid this weekend.

Once again,  a laboratory that satisfied  the general  public, and offered a rich artistic, professional,  and human experience to these young artists in their path towards professional life.
